The blog on a business website is a valuable marketing tool in the modern age. But it only works if done right. When you are blogging to promote more business, there are certain things you need to do every time you write a post. Using these three tips to transform your company blog into effective content marketing.

1. Write for Your Audience

This may seem obvious. But some content marketers place too much emphasis on site engine optimization (SEO). They are writing for an algorithm rather than writing for actual people! Focus on writing for your audience and niche, not for a search engine.

Google has become more sophisticated. Websites with user-friend content tend to get better SEO rankings. Keyword stuffing and stilted language don’t get you on the first page of search results. Instead, create carefully curated content that adds value to your reader

2. Write Educational Content

Focus your blog content on the topics in your field and niche. Don’t stray too far from the focus of your business. If you’re an electrician, don’t blog about concrete or plumbing work. Sticking with your niche establishes you a subject matter expert in your industry. By giving away educational material for free, you have positioned yourself to be the first person readers think of when they are ready to buy.

3. Add Calls-to-Actions

When blogging for content marketing, conclude all your posts with promotions for your services or products. A CTA is a compelling reason for your reader to take action. Let potential clients know how to quickly get their problem solved—with your help, of course.

The best way to get people to do what you want is to ask. Want them to call for a free quote? Just ask. Need more leads for your email list? Ask them to sign up. Ask readers to take action by writing compelling CTAs at the end of every blog post.
